Why the Bobber & Bug Catches More Big Panfish in Shallow Water
Proven to be a more consistent way to catch big ones from red ear to bluegills

That little kid that still thrives in my heart loves to see that cork jump. So that, coupled with the fact that it’s so dog-gone effective, has me throwing a hand-tied bug under a bobber more often than not when bluegills, shellcrackers and sunfish move shallow in the spring and fall. And anytime I find panfish relating to shallow cover.
What’s cool is, one bug and bobber combo, can last you all day on some fishing days. No re-hooking bait, retying lines and what not. Just cast, set and reel. Well perhaps a little more involved than that.
Let’s talk bugs
So what is under the cork. For sure you can put a plastic on a jighead and fish it under a bobber with great success, but years ago I found a spider looking bug under the water mimics so much that panfish find it very hard to resist. And the longer you dangle it in their face, the more deadly it becomes.
